On Saturday 3rd August our Tenant Participation Team in partnership with You’re Not Alone – Dundee Community Support Group held a family fun day at our Dundee community lounge. We were even lucky enough to have a day of glorious sunshine for the event, allowing us to take full advantage of the surrounding grassy area.
We held the event on a Saturday during the summer holidays to try and give the opportunity for as many people as possible in the local community to attend.

The main aims of the event were to promote our new free tenant discount app – Housing Perks and encouraging tenants to become a member of Angus Housing Association. The event also demonstrated the great work You’re Not Alone has done since Covid in re-energising our local community.
There was also staff members from Dundee City Council’s Community Empowerment Team present supporting the event by helping with registration, games outside as well as promoting Whitfield Community Larder and Whitfield Matters Dream menu.
Catrin Evans from the Community Impact Initiative also came along to speak with people about their community and experiences, she stated
The overwhelming highlight of the day was the visit by Eden’s Garden – a small animal handling organisation. Giving families the chance to handle and find out more about animals such as, chinchilla, tortoise, rabbit, guinea pigs, snakes and bearded dragons.
One member of the community noted,
“Having Edens garden there was a good opportunity for children to meet animals they may not have met before”.
