Shared Equity Properties – Arbroath

Are you  looking to own your own home, but unsure if it’s possible as on a lower income? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Angus Housing Association is pleased to offer a limited number of shared equity properties on the Aberfell new build development in Arbroath.  The properties are constructed by Scotia Homes to a high standard of finish. The properties available for shared equity are 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom houses and form part of a wider private development by Scotia Homes, which also includes social rented properties.

What is Shared Equity?

Shared equity schemes gives those on low to moderate incomes the opportunity to get on the property ladder by purchasing a share of a home, while the Scottish Government holds the remaining share. This helps to reduces the upfront costs of buying a home. You will pay for the biggest share, which for these homes is between 60 % – 80% and the Scottish Government will finance the remaining percentage. You will need to enter into a shared equity arrangement with the Government, which means if you do not increase your percentage of ownership when you come to sell the property they will get a share of the money.
