Angus Housing Association are pleased to announce that construction work is progressing at their Whitfield Drive site a development of 18 new homes, in the North East end of Dundee – the site of a former primary school.
We are thrilled to be working in partnership with George Martin Builders to deliver a mix of high-quality, sustainable and affordable homes for social rent – in an area of significant housing need.
George Martin Builders will deliver 9 three-bedroom houses, 4 one-bedroom flats, 4 two bedroom flats and 1 wheelchair adapted property bungalow on the site. The development received over £2 million in Scottish Government funding and is expected to be completed March 2026.
The thoughtfully designed redevelopment of the vacant school site will also contribute to the wider regeneration of the Whitfield area – an area that has gone through significant regeneration in recent years.
It is envisaged that this new development of mixed property types will help create it’s own vibrant community, benefiting from a number of local amenities, including the nearby North East Community Campus.
The properties will have sustainability at the heart of their design, applying new energy-efficiency measures, including air source heating systems helping to reduce the carbon footprint and tenant’s fuel bills.
Gail Robertson, Chief Executive of Angus Housing Association stated:
We are happy to report that work is well underway on the Whitfield Drive site – a new-build development that will create much needed homes for an area in significant housing need.
At a time of housing crisis, where demand for affordable housing outweighs supply, we as a social landlord are pleased to continue to be developing new high quality homes -helping to meet some of this demand.
We are also proud to be able to continue as a key player in the regeneration of the Whitfield area of Dundee.
I would also like to give thanks to the Scottish Government for their financial support which has enabled the development to come into fruition.
