Scottish Housing Day

Angus Housing Association is joining other organisations across Scotland in supporting #ScottishHousingDay.
The theme for this year is ‘Homes for Life’ which aims to encourage people to think how we can better support individuals in their homes as their needs and priorities change.
Our population in Scotland is ageing faster than everywhere else in the UK, therefore it is important that we think about how we can address these changes to allow people to remain independent in their homes as possible.
It is important for us as a social landlord that we discuss with tenants their housing needs and how we plan for the future as their needs change. Examples of these changes might include simple adaptions, installing technology to support living independent, access to housing support as well as ensuring our new properties that are built are designed to meet individuals current and future needs.
At our recent Bingo ‘n’ Blether session in Arbroath our Tenant Engagement Team asked some of our tenant to complete the ‘Homes for Lives’ survey, the results of these have been sent to Chartered Institute for Housing which will be used to inform the Government and policy makers of changes needed to ensure we are designing homes suitable for life.
